SRINAGAR, June 2: Jammu & Kashmir has been witnessing a surge in the Corona Virus deaths in the second wave since April, but still then the mortality rate in the union territory is 1.34 percent. In the past 24 hours 1,718 new cases were reported following which the total number of cases reached 2, 94,078; with 24 fresh deaths the death toll reached 3,963.
Srinagar district reported 320 new cases followed by Jammu district 169 cases, Pulwama district 158 cases, Budgam district 137 cases, Anantnag district 103 cases, Baramulla district 102 cases, Kupwara district 90 cases, Kulgam district 81 cases, Rajouri district 75 cases, Bandipora and Poonch districts 62 cases each, Udhampur district 57 cases, Ganderbal district 53 cases, Doda district 52 cases, Ramban district 49 cases, Samba district 41 cases, Kishtwar district 33 cases, Shopian district 27 cases, Kathua district 25 cases and Reasi district 22 cases.
Anantnag district reported five fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by Srinagar district four deaths, Kathua three deaths, Jammu, Kupwara, Bandipora, Kulgam and Rajouri districts two deaths each and Baramulla & Budgam districts one death each. So far 2,031 virus related deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 1,932.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,718 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 585 from Jammu division and 1,133 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 94,078. Also 24 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, seven from Jammu division and 17 from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 3,391 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,327 from Jammu division and 2,064 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 94,078 positive cases, 31,579 are active positive, 2, 58,536 have recovered and 3,963 have died; 1,932 in Jammu division and 2,031 in Kashmir division.
Out of 86, 51,026 test results available, 83, 56,948 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 21, 09,281 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 81,451 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 31,579 in isolation and 1, 46,745in home surveillance. Besides, 18, 45,543 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 65,787 positive cases, 3,871 active positive, 61,135 recovered, 781 deaths; Baramulla has 21,590 positive cases, 2,381 active positive, 18,948 recovered, 261 deaths; Budgam has 20,554 positive cases, 1,878 active positive, 18,496 recovered, 180 deaths; Anantnag has 14,741 positive cases, 3,542 active positive, 11,032 recovered, 167 deaths; Pulwama has 13,399 positive cases, 2,166 active positive, 11,062 recovered, 171 deaths.
“Kupwara has 12,268 positive cases, 1,775 active positive, 10,346 recovered, 147 deaths; Kulgam has 10,024 positive cases, 1,430 active positive, 8,488 recovered, 106 deaths; Ganderbal has 8,858 positive cases, 1,145 active positive, 7,644 recovered, 69 deaths; Bandipora has 8,551 positive cases, 804 active positive, 7,653 recovered, 94 deaths and Shopian has 5,361 positive cases, 1,107 active positive, 4,199 recovered, 55 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 51,062 positive cases, 5,011 active positive, 44,973 recovered, 1,078 deaths; Udhampur has 10,696 positive cases, 553 active positive, 10,017 recovered, 126 deaths; Rajouri has 9,817 positive cases, 1,033 active positive, 8,596 recovered, 188 deaths; Kathua has 8,830 positive cases, 379 active positive, 8,316 recovered, 135 deaths; Samba has 6,817 positive cases, 1,095 active positive, 5,610 recovered, 112 deaths.
“Doda has 5,836 positive cases, 1,087 active positive, 4,659 recovered, 90 deaths; Reasi has 5,336 positive cases, 428 active positive, 4,871 recovered, 37 deaths; Poonch has 5,329 positive cases, 929 active positive, 4,321 recovered, 79 deaths; Ramban has 5,176 positive cases, 736 active positive, 4,387 recovered, 53 deaths and Kishtwar has 4,046 positive cases, 229 active positive, 3,783 recovered, 34 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 94,078 positive cases, 21,621 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
