Mahajan Sabha flays BJP for acting as mute spectator

Early Times Report

Jammu, June 2: Taking a dig at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for remaining silent on the controversial Land Revenue Act issue, which deprived Mahajan, Khatri and Sikh communities of purchasing and sale of agriculture land, the Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha today said that saffron party needs to change its attitude towards people.
While talking to Early Times, President the Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha Ramesh Chander Gupta said that in order to keep these communities away from this fundamental right, the JK UT bureaucracy has deliberately played a mischief but BJP, which claims to represent people of Jammu, instead of rectifying this blunder has been acting as a mute spectator. “Party’s silence over this issue is shocking,” he added.
Unwarranted statements given by the BJP leaders that it has nothing to do with this Act as it has been framed by the bureaucrats, exhibits the weakness of the party, which has no control over the UT affairs, he alleged.
Presently all communities are in the business sector in Jammu but it makes no sense that some particular communities have been barred from purchasing and selling agricultural land due to Section 133-H of J&K Land Revenue Act, he added.
“It has been more than a year, despite repeated representations and requests on different platforms, the notification has not been revoked which has outraged these communities against the BJP. The party is shying away from taking responsibilities. It will have to change its attitude towards people of Jammu otherwise the party will face serious consequences ,” Gupta said.
