Former MLC Subash Gupta expresses concern over insufficient measures against Covid-19 wave | Appeals Lt Governor led administration to speed up Covid-19 vaccination, testing, and tracing | | Early Times Report
Kathua, June 3: Former Member legislative council & Senior Congress leader Subash Gupta have expressed serious concern over the dilly delaying attitude attained by administration led by LG Manoj Sinha against Covid-19 pandemic. Subash Gupta expressing his concern towards the matter said that J&K is witnessing severe shortage of vaccine for the age group of 18 to 45 years and even the vaccination of 45+ is also at snail’s pace, resulting in to very slow vaccination besides slow and low testing and tracing. He demanded that the government should go for a vigorous campaign especially in the villages and rural belt too, before the third wave of the deadly virus. Subash Gupta said that besides acute shortage of vaccine for age group of 18-45yrs the testing is very limited that too only rapid testing and not RT-PCR. “All those things which are announced should be implemented practically but there is huge gap between claims and implementation. The opening of Covid Centres in each Panchyat would not serve the purpose unless complete arrangements are made, which is impossible. The Health facilities and manpower in health institutions in rural areas is very scarce to deal with anticipated situation,” he added. Subash Gupta further added that the government is ignoring the fact that the casualties are still higher and several precious lives are lost every day. In this situation the unlocking process has to be very thoughtful and careful to avoid increase in the already ongoing risks and not to waste the benefits of the entire lockdown. Urging the government to solve the issue with the transport operators Gupta said that it should be on priority basis as the limited unlocking would require public transport for the common man besides employees. He also insisted on starting emergency treatments to non Covid patients in different hospitals and centres than Covid hospitals including in rural areas where no private consultations are available. Subash Gupta laid thrust on the government to fill the gap in health facilities and vaccination, testing and monitoring in Rural areas and bridge the gap between Rural and urban, as said by the apex court of the country. He also demanded that the Government should do an exercise to find out the people below poverty line whose bread earners have lost their life due to Covid-19 and compensate with a minimum of RS 10 lakh to every such family. He also asked UT Government to build up infrastructure in peripheral Hospitals and install oxygen plants in every Hospital of Sub District level particularly at Sub District hospital Hiranagar, Billawar, Bani, Basohli, and Nagri Parole. It is also matter of great surprise that despite of commitment made by the higher authorities, Digital X-ray plant has not been installed in Sub District Hospital Hiranagar. It is the high time to invest heavily in health sector infrastructure for meeting up the current requirements.
