ASSOCHAM to commence ‘COVID 19 Awareness Web Series’ from June 5

Jammu, Jun 3: As entire country is fighting with the second wave of covid-19, ASSOCHAM – being a responsible apex body of the country has come-up with ‘COVID 19 Awareness Web Series’ to create awareness among the people about this deadly virus. The first insightful session of the web series will be on Effects of Covid 19 on Diabetic patients with India’s leading Diabetologist, V. Mohan on June 05, 2021 at 1100Hrs on virtual platform. Later other sessions will be conducted fortnightly on Effects of Covid 19 on Cardiac patients, effects of Covid 19 on Nephrology patients, effects of Covid-19 on Pulmonology patients, effects of Covid 19 on Neurology patients and many more.
COVID-19 a highly infectious disease, spreading through close contact with someone who has the virus. However people with diabetes, lungs problems respiratory problems, lungs, kidney & heart infections have a higher risk of developing severe complications, such as difficulty breathing or pneumonia and many more. V Mohan, Chairman, Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties Centre and President, Madras Diabetes Research Centre, Chennai said, “Covid 19 has been one of the greatest medical disasters of the past century. Unfortunately it is people with uncontrolled diabetes who fare badly. This session talks about how to control diabetes well and thus reduce the risk of poor outcomes due to COVID. It gives practical tips for people to maintain good health during the pandemic.” Jitender Sodhi, Chairman, ASSOCHAM Himachal Pradesh State Development Council and Chairman & Managing Director, Ayush Group of Companies India stated, “As it is well known that people with co-morbidities are more prone to COVID- 19 infection and this is leading to high death rates. With Dr Mohan’s valuable & knowledgeable insight on the subject, one can improve the quality of life through his tip to manage, treat, cure, prevent diabetes and succumb the COVID- 19 infection.” “This can surely be a boon that can help to bend the curve of diabetes epidemic and help people living with diabetes thrive,” he added. Rakesh Nagpal, Co-Chairman, ASSOCHAM Himachal Pradesh State Development Council and CEO & Founder, Alfa Chemicals mentioned “By now all of us have come to know that COVID-19 is a condition which gets worse with co-morbidities. It is also proven that diabetics suffer from worse outcomes of COVID 19 and have a high risk for severity and long recovery time.”
