JAMMU, June 3: Three day breathing and Meditation Workshop under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav concluded today at Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar.
The online workshop–Boost your immunity by Breathing and Meditation was organised by NSS Unit of Government PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar in collaboration with The Art of Living and under the patronage of Principal Dr. Sangita Nagari between 1st of June to 3rd of June, 2021 wherein a total of 100 volunteers participated.
The aim of this workshop was to make the volunteers aware about the effective breathing techniques and their benefits in boosting the immune system, in relieving stress, anxiety and depression.
The resource person of the programme was Shruti Dhiman, Faculty of the Art of Living. She explained the importance of correct breathing and meditation in detoxifying the body and clearing the energy channels. She also demonstrated and practiced various asanas and pranayamas viz., Bharamari, Kapal Bhati, Bhastrika, Nadi Shodan, etc. She said that breathing from the abdomen boosts respiration and ensures a rich supply of oxygen to the brain and signals that all is well. The Principal Dr. Sangita Nagari, in her virtual address, applauded the efforts of NSS PO and volunteers. She emphasized the importance of breathing and meditation in our life. She further stated that breath is the link between the body and mind. Our vital source of energy and the key to healthy and stress free living lies in right breathing and it can heal us from worries and anxieties as when we breathe correctly, we can throw out 90% of toxins from our body. She also highlighted that conducting such workshops helps the students to reduce stress levels, maintain mental hygiene and rejuvenates the body and mind.
The workshop was conducted under the supervision of NSS Programme Officer, Prof. Mala Bhasin. NSS Volunteers- Surbi Singh, Shweta Pathak, Amoksha Rasotra and Komal Gupta also contributed in the successful management of the workshop.
