Five killed, one injured as passenger taxi falls into nallah in Ramban district

Jammu, June 5: At least five persons were killed and one suffered injuries when a passenger taxi they were travelling in met with an accident and plunged into a nallah in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Senior Superintendent of Police Ramban district P D Nitya here on Saturday said that at about 0930 hours on Friday night a passenger taxi moving towards Jammu met with an accident at Digdol and the vehicle plunged into Bisleri Nallah.
She said that total six persons were on board, of which one suffered injuries and five were dead.
The injured namely Ajeet Kumar, son of Kuldeep Kumar of Billawar was hospitalised.
Three deceased were identified as Garu Ram, son of Hans Raj, resident of Talab Tillo, Jammu, Vaneet Kour, daughter of JP Singh, resident of Gupkar, Srinagar and Shagun Kumar of Kangra, Himachal Pradesh (Head Constable of 73bn CRPF).
She said that identifies of two deceased was yet to be ascertained.
Police, along with Indian Army, CRPF and civil QRT, is continuing the search and rescue operation.
DC Ramban, Mussrat Islam said that all possible help being provided to the injured. Further help, whatever required, will also be provided, he added.
Meanwhile Defence spokesman said that Troops of Territorial Army Company at Digdoul on ROP duty noticed it and rushed to the spot.
Laying ropes they went down the steep slope and out of six passengers five could be located.
