Delay in payments leaves biomedical equipment defunct in Jammu hospitals | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 5: Higher-ups in the government have taken serious note of delay in clearing bills of the company engaged in maintenance of biomedical equipment installed in hospitals across the Jammu region. It is all due to inordinate delay in payment that many important machines are lying defunct in most of the hospitals across Jammu region. Highly placed sources said that Union Government as part of its nation-wide Biomedical Equipment Management and Maintenance Programme (BEMMP), had transferred funds to the J&K to ensure that no machine remained defunct for a long. “Although funds are in the kitty of concerned department, authorities are deliberately delaying payment to those who are engaged in repairing the equipment”, sources said, adding, “As the matter came into the notice of the higher-ups, they have taken very serious note”. Reports said this programme was launched in the year 2019 and the National Health Mission J&K had entered into an agreement with a Hyderabad based company which has so far repaired machines in different hospitals across Jammu region. The BEMMP has been designed in such a way that the equipment in the district-level healthcare facilities will have a run time of 95 percent, in sub-district hospitals of 90 percent and in primary health centres (PHCs) of 80 percent. Healthcare Services Pvt Ltd, a Hyderabad-based company is responsible for regular maintenance of all the equipment supported through a 24x7 call centre. |
