SAMBA, June 5: A virtual training programme was organized today for mango growers of J&K UT, on directions of Vishesh Mahajan, Director Horticulture Planning and Marketing Department. Apart from a number of Mango growers from Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Rajouri and Reasi districts, officers of the department also participated in the virtual training program. Among others, key speakers were Prof Harun Naik Dean Research Food Technology Department IUST Awantipora, Prof Dalbir Singh Sogi Deptt of Food Science and Technology GNDU Amritsar, Prof Jagmohan Singh from SKUAST Jammu, Asstt Prof Draksha Majid Master Trainer for PMFME ODOP in J&K, Dr Neerja Sharma Senior Scientist KVK Samba. The virtual training programme was hosted by Anuj Verma AGMO Samba. Prof Harun Naik threw light on different aspects of Mangoes Processing and high income associated to high quality Mango byproducts like Aam Papad, Nectar, Juice, Squashes, different types of drinks, candies, dried slices, powder etc. Prof Jagmohan Singh and Dr Neerja explained process for making of Aam Panna, Jams and Juices. Dr Neerja Sharma Senior Scientist KVK Samba asked the Self Help Group Members to come forward to set up small food processing units in their clusters and establish a brand for their products with giving full focus on marketing of finished products. Director Horticulture Planning and Marketing expressed his satisfaction over conduct of today's virtual training programme and asked his officers at Jammu to hold daily awareness camps for farmers/ growers for a week starting from 7th of June to assess the needs and immediate requirements of farming community for making easy & workable the whole process of agricultural marketing and value addition, do as to enhance farmers' income vertically. |
