Revenue records go missing in Poonch | Deptt asks police to lodge FIR | | Rajesh Tandon Early Times Report
Poonch, June 7: Records have gone missing from the office of Revenue Department in Poonch city after the matter came to fore the department asked the police to lodge an FIR to fix the responsibility. “This is being considered to be the handiwork of some of the Revenue officials for their vested interest,” sources told Early Times. They said that the involvement of some revenue officials cannot be ruled out. “It seems these records have been taken off at the behest of the land mafia in order to protect them.” They further informed that it has been observed that Patwaris in Poonch district are not taking their promotions as they are “enjoying” their stay at their present places of posting as they remain in direct contact with the parties for monetary benefits. “There are two local revenue officials, who support the land mafia,” they alleged. Ever since the news of the missing of some of the revenue records has come into public domain, the local people have started pointing fingers on some officials of the Revenue Department, who are allegedly involved in it. Station House Officer Poonch, when contacted, said that they have got a complaint to lodge an FIR from the Revenue Department and law will take its course. When Early Times contacted the ADC Poonch in this connection, he refused to comment on the issue and said that they are looking into the matter.
