JAMMU, June 7: Jammu & Kashmir witnessed a tremendous dip in Corona Virus cases with 977 new infections being reported in the past 24 hours; following which the total number of positive cases reached 301467. The death toll reached 4,090 with 16 fresh deaths being reported in the union territory. Srinagar district reported 161 cases followed by Kupwara district 107 cases, Budgam district 103 cases, Jammu district 100 cases, Pulwama district 95 cases, Anantnag district 66 cases, Baramulla district 44 cases, Ganderbal district 42 cases, Doda district 36 cases, Bandipora district 35 cases, Udhampur district 34 cases, Rajouri district 29 cases, Kulgam district 28 cases, Ramban district 22 cases, Samba district 18 cases, Kishtwar district 17 cases, Reasi district 13 cases, Poonch district 12 cases, Shopian district eight cases and Kathua district seven cases. Baramulla district reported four fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by Jammu district three deaths, Kishtwar and Anantnag districts two deaths each and Srinagar, Budgam, Kulgam, Udhampur & Ramban districts one death each. So far 2,102 people have died due to the virus in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 1,988. The Jammu & Kashmir administration informed through the media bulletin that 977 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 288 from Jammu division and 689 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 3, 01,467. Also 16 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, seven from Jammu division and nine from Kashmir division. Moreover, 4,178 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,178 from Jammu division and 3,000 from Kashmir Division. Out of 3, 01,467 positive cases, 23,524 are active positive, 2, 73,853 have recovered and 4,090 have died; 1988 in Jammu division and 2,102 in Kashmir division. Out of 88, 87,902 test results available, 85, 86,435 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 21, 68,272 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 80,348 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 23,524 in isolation and 1, 46,180 in home surveillance. Besides, 19, 14,130 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 67,066 positive cases, 2,956 active positive, 63,311 recovered, 799 deaths; Baramulla has 22,235 positive cases, 2,049 active positive, 19,918 recovered, 268 deaths; Budgam has 21,260 positive cases, 1,457 active positive, 19,609 recovered, 194 deaths; Anantnag has 15,160 positive cases, 2,059 active positive, 12,918 recovered, 183 deaths; Pulwama has 14,005 positive cases, 1,572 active positive, 12,257 recovered, 176 deaths. “Kupwara has 12,840 positive cases, 1,202 active positive, 11,489 recovered, 149 deaths; Kulgam has 10,415 positive cases, 1,289 active positive, 9,017 recovered, 109 deaths; Ganderbal has 9,103 positive cases, 741 active positive, 8,292 recovered, 70 deaths; Bandipora has 8,769 positive cases, 634 active positive, 8,038 recovered, 97deaths and Shopian has 5,437 positive cases, 842 active positive, 4,538 recovered, 57 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 51,656 positive cases, 3,708 active positive, 46,848 recovered, 1100 deaths; Udhampur has 10,851 positive cases, 404 active positive, 10,318 recovered, 129 deaths; Rajouri has 10,317 positive cases, 798 active positive, 9,145 recovered, 194 deaths; Kathua has 8,965 positive cases, 220 active positive, 8,599 recovered, 146 deaths; Samba has 6,902 positive cases, 450 active positive, 6,338 recovered, 114 deaths. “Doda has 6,085 positive cases, 1,019 active positive, 4,973 recovered, 93 deaths; Poonch has 5,620 positive cases, 1,025 active positive, 4,515 recovered, 80 deaths; Reasi has 5,415 positive cases, 214 active positive, 5,163 recovered, 38 deaths; Ramban has 5,389 positive cases, 657 active positive, 4,675 recovered, 57 deaths and Kishtwar has 4,157 positive cases, 228 active positive, 3,892 recovered, 37 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 3, 01,467 positive cases, 21,741 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
