Early Times Report

Kishtwar, June 11: The Kishtwar-Sinthan Road that provides shortest connectivity between Kishtwar and has been thrown open only for medical emergencies.
The road at several places between Potato farm and Sinthan top is in shambles and it is not feasible for normal vehicular movement.
The official sources told the Early Times that earlier ADC Kishtwar is authorised to issue the permission for traveling on Sinthan Road on medical grounds, but keeping in view of the miseries of the common people who had to travel several kms to reach district headquarters, SDM Chatroo too has been authorized to issue the medical emergency passes to the people. “In case of cancer patients—dialysis patients critically ill patients suffering from serious disorders, medical emergencies like bone injuries or any other chronic disease— the medical file of the patients will be treated as pass” said a senior official.
Keeping in view of the public pressure, ADGP Traffic along with senior officials of police and traffic department visited the Sinthan top and issued directions to General Manager NHIDCL to expedite the road clearance process so that the road could be made fully accessible to the common people in weeks to come.
Speaking to Early Times, social activist and member team Abbabel said that majority of the patients prefer to visit Srinagar for treatment instead of Jammu during summer days.
“In Jammu temperature is between 43-44 degrees Celsius— which is very hot and in coming days the temperature in Jammu will increase and people from our area are not familiar with such high temperature prefer to shift patients to Srinagar,” said Burhan Dar.
Dar said that keeping in view of high temperature in Jammu, government should also consider shifting of COVID patients to Srinagar instead of Jammu.
