Reasi faces power outages amid scorching heat | Officers inaccessible, they never answer calls, alleges former Sarpanch | | Early Times Report Reasi, June 11: Like urban areas, rural areas in Jammu are too facing power crisis amidst sweltering heat. Early Times team visited Reasi district on Friday, most of the people said that they were facing immense problems in absence of electricity amidst the scorching temperature. Former Sarpanch of Panchayat Seelam, Preetam ji said, “The power department is not following any schedule. Electricity comes and goes. Power cuts are erratic and unscheduled.” He said, “Due to no electricity we are facing water scarcity. Our motors are not working. Our lives have been messed up.” The former Sarpanch said, “The officers have become inaccessible. If we call on the numbers that have been provided to us are never answered by anyone. On one side we are facing the pandemic and on the other hand we are suffering in absence of electricity.” Preetam ji said, “People do ask us why there is so much of power crisis and we are not we taking up the issue with the higher authorities. We are unable to tell them that no one picks up our phone.” The former Sarpanch appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Reasi to direct the Power Department to follow a schedule so that people could use their fans and coolers to fight the heat. |
