EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, June 11: The declaration of pending results and conduct of all the examinations which could not be held due to COVID-19 must be expedited on priority said, Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor on his visit to the Examination Wing.
Prof Dhar lauded the efforts of Prof Jasbir Singh, Controller of Examinations, University of Jammu and his team of officers for their exemplary efforts to ensure that the various examinations are conducted and the results are delivered in time, despite the availability of bare minimum staff.
At the outset of the meeting, he offered rich tributes to Dr Subhash Raina, Assistant Registrar who passed away recently due to Covid. He termed it a great setback to the Examination system since Dr Raina was closely working with the Controller of Examinations in the capacity of Confidential Assistant to COE and was playing an important role in the timely conduct of examinations.
The Controller of Examinations in his detailed report informed that strategies worked out after several meetings with the Vice Chancellor over the last two months have been effectively executed.
He informed that the open book online examinations of Engineering stream 5th and 7th semesters have already been conducted and the evaluation process is going on and the date sheet for BE 8th semester shall be notified shortly for the examinations starting from 17th June.
The preparations for the conduct of online examinations of 1st and 3rd semesters are on and these will also be conducted soon. He further said that the examinations of B. Tech semester 7th have also been conducted while those of 5th& 3rd semesters are starting from 11th and 21st June 2021, respectively.
Prof Dhar exhorted that besides other courses, the emphasis should also be given to the conduct of Examinations of Medical Courses. COE assured that the online examinations of the UG students of DDE and other private students shall also be started at the earliest.
Keeping in view the fact that the physical presence of the students is being avoided in campus under the prevailing situation and at the same time for redressal of their issues, the Vice-Chancellor gave on the spot directions to set up an extension counter at gate 2 of the University, near J & K Bank, so that students can get the required information from a single window.
