Early Times REport

SUNDERBANI, June 14: The farmers and other people associated with the agriculture sector in this area of Rajouri district are at total loss these days after the Department of Agriculture shifted the office of Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) Sunderbani from the main market to a far off place.
Early Times has learnt from sources that the office of AEO and the store have been shifted from main market Sunderbani to Lohara Kota area located one kilometer away from the city centre. They said the shifting has been done without informing the people especially farmers who are real stakeholders.
“The farmers and other people who had to visit the office of AEO or the store would alight from the public transport vehicles and reach the office. Since the same are located one kilometer away now the visitors are feeling the heat and the problems have been compounded due to absence of public transport,” said sources.
Farmers like Dev Raj, Pawan Kumar and Durga Dass were dejected after they found the office of AEO and store locked at the previous place. It was only after being informed by some locals these people came to know that the office has been shifted to some other place.
Sources have said that an officer posted at the office of AEO Sunderbani is behind the whole plan of shifting of the office. They said that the officer wants his own friend to make merry since the office as well as the store have been housed in the accommodation provided by the friend of this officer.
When contacted Chief Agriculture Officer, Rajouri Mahesh Verma said that it would not be appropriate for him to talk about the issue on phone. He asked the reporter to come to his office and get his version on the issue.
