Rs 50 for uniforms: Month on, enquiry officer yet to submit report

Jammu, June 14: One month ago, Director General, Women & Child Development J&K ordered an inquiry into bribery case but till date the enquiry officer has not submitted his report.
The inquiry was ordered on the basis of a news carried by Early Times. A news story published in this newspaper revealed that staff of CDPO Kalakote had allegedly charged Rs 50/- from each Anganwari worker for providing uniform.
It was also alleged that the mechanism for procurement of butrition to the beneficiaries registered in the Anganwari Centers was in contravention to the guidelines/norms fixed by Govt of India, Ministry of Women and Child Development and Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir”, govt order no 05-DGWCD of 2021, 12/05/2021.
The order further read that a complaint has also been received from Watch and Ward/ Night Chokidar against I/C CDPO, Kalakote and a Junior Assistant wherein it was alleged that the said officials were charging Rs.50/ from each Anganwari Worker and helper for providing uniform.
“It has been alleged in the complaint that an amount of Rs.3000.00 credited to each AWW on account of CBEs in their respective bank accounts, Rs.2000.00 were taken back in the form of cash from each Anganwari Worker by the said I/c CDPO and Jr. Assistant. Some more allegations regarding payment of rent Anganwari Centres and demanding Rs.20000- for clearance of wages of the said watch and ward”, the order read.
“Keeping in view the above, Kartar Singh, District Programme Officer, ICDS, Rajouri is appointed inquiry officer to probe the matter and submit factual report to Director General, Women & Child Development within 15 days from the date of issuance of this order”, the order stated.
Kartar Singh, District Programme Officer, ICDS, Rajouri when contacted said, “The complainant was called twice for his statement but he could not prove his allegation.
The inquiry is still going on. We could not complete it within the due course of time due to COVID curfew in the month of May”, he added.
