Discriminatory land law direct attack on 3 communities: Multani | Mahajans, Khatris, Sikhs deprived of buying, selling agri land in J&K | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 14: Social worker DS Multani, on Monday said that Jammu and Kashmir administration has failed to provide relief to the members of Mahajan, Khatri and Sikh communities as Section 133-H of J&K Land Revenue Act, which prohibits these communities to buy or sell agricultural land, continues to remain in vogue. Multani said, “We were happy when Article 370 was abrogated from J&K and this move was welcomed by the people of Jammu region but instead of providing relief to the people, more difficulties have been created for the members of some communities including Mahajans, Khatris and Sikhs, who have been debarred from purchasing or selling agricultural land,” He said, “We are unable to understand why this section has been included in the Land Revenue Act. Inclusion of Section 133-H seems to be a conspiracy of some bureaucrats, who have ulterior motives but silence of BJP leadership on this issue has created resentment among these communities.” “It is very ridiculous that the people of Jammu and Kashmir can purchase land in any part of the country but can’t buy land in their native place. The discriminatory law is direct attack on these communities,” he added. “Inclusion of this new act has made us helpless. Anger is brewing among the people of Jammu. We request the LG administration to look into the matter and demand that this discriminatory law should be amended ,” Multani said. |
