JKUT Govt failed to implement NFS Act: Sushil Sharma
6/15/2021 12:08:36 AM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, June 14: All J&K Disable Welfare Association held a day-long dharna protest at Nirdosh Chowk, Akhnoor. The protest was led by Sushil Sharma, Chairman, All J&K Disable Welfare Association. The protest was held to show resentment against Jammu Kashmir Union Territory administration which failed to implement Section 38 of National Food Security Act, 2013 which directs all State and UT Governments to include all disables under Antyodya Anna Yojna. Sushil while addressing the media said that it’s almost 10 months since 22.08.2020 when Government of India’s Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution passed directions to all state and UT governments to include all disables under AAY scheme under section 38 of NFSA, 2013. He said since then we are running from pillar to post but yet it is to be implemented in JK UT. Sushil said UT Administration is not taking grievances of disable people seriously that’s why center government order is yet to be implemented in Jammu Kashmir. He came heavily on the BJP led government in center which claims that after revocation of 370 all central laws, orders etc are directly imposed in Jammu Kashmir Union Territory. He said that all tall claims by BJP are a big failure and for them we are just vote banks and nothing else. Sushil said that in the crucial pandemic period Central and UT Government announce various packages for all sections of society but have criminally forgotten Disables of Jammu and Kashmir which needs special attention of Government. He said that the Lieutenant Governor should immediately announce a relief package for disables of Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir. He further alleges that all political leaders who provide all possible transportation when they have to get votes from us failed to take disables to vaccination centers to provide vaccines to disables. He said only 5% of disables got vaccines in the government’s drive for vaccination for disables. He also demanded that the government should increase their pension.
He warned LG Administration that if issues of disables are not addressed they will come on roads to protest. Others who were present during the protest are Sham Lal President, Tarsem Lal Vice President, Vakil Chand Secretary, Sansar Chand, Alla Rakha and others.
