Reasi police on offensive mode against drug peddlers

Reasi, June 14: While taking operation Ek Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh against drug peddlers & abusers on offensive mode & tightening noose against criminals involved in business of drugs abuse, team of police station Katra-Reasi laid a surprise naka at auto stand Katra, intercepted and nabbed one notorious drug peddler Prithvi Chand s/o Chuni Lal r/o Ladda tehsil Mongri-Udhampur, on search recovered 19 gms of charas like substance from his custody.
In this regards FIR No. 97/2021 under sections 8/20 NDPS Act has been lodged in Police Station Katra and investigation set in. In another legal action, Team of police station Katra-Reasi intercepted one truck no JK03F 4858 while coming towards Katra from Kashmir valley and intercepted. Apprehended drug peddler(driver) Hamid Khan S/O Babu Khan R/O Mehari Katra after routine checking at Police check Post Moori and recovery of 450 gms of Charas and 750 gms of Poppy straw from his possession.
In this regards case FIR no 101/2021 US 8/15/21/25 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Katra and investigation initiated. Whereas in another instance of drug peddling, Karamat Ali S/O Saif Ali R/O Paroh Katra was apprehended at Police check Post Searly during surprise checking and recovered 138 gms of Charas like Substance from his possession. In this regard case FIR no 102/2021 US 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Katra and investigations set in.
While following the laid down procedure under NDPS Act all the banned drugs recovered from accused persons have been seized and sealed after taking due samples for expert opinion from Forensic Science Laboratory Jammu.
Ek Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh is a special drive started by District Police Reasi under the Command of SSP Reasi Sh Shailender Singh, under this drive 89 offenders have been arrested in 76 case FIR registered under NDPS Act and Excise Act in last two months.
Citizens of Reasi in general appreciating the efforts of Police in Curbing the menace of Drug Abuse and illicit liquor in the area & have started privately providing actionable information.
