EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, June 16: Dozens of fruits and vegetable sellers of Akhnoor town and nearby areas gathered today in the Fruit and Vegetable Mandi Daskal, Akhnoor. The main agenda of the meeting was to appeal to the administration to close unofficial mandi of Akhnoor so that the official mandi built after spending crores in 2012 should be officially started and promoted.
Addressing the gathering Raj Kumar Gupta said that the government of Jammu and Kashmir have spent crores for making a fully equipped and spacious fruit and vegetable Mandi in Daskal area of Akhnoor. He said that this was built after long pending demands of local traders of fruits and vegetables but it is very unfortunate that due to apathy and nexus of the responsible officers, the traders and farmers are suffering a lot and because they have to buy and sell amidst huge inconvenience due to the failure of official fruit and vegetable mandi in Akhnoor.
He told the media that once the official Fruit and Vegetables Mandi of Akhnoor starts, thousands of unemployed youth will get employment.
He said dozens of traders have purchased shops in the mandi which are going in waste causing huge loss to their business. He said the administration should immediately stop unauthorized mandi running in Akhnoor which is causing many problems of traffic congestion in town.
Subhash Chander while addressing the media said that this is a huge set back to the government project which was completed spending crores. He said few people for their own profits are making all traders and vendors suffer.
