BARAMULLA (Uri), June 16: Nature has bestowed Uri as there are scores of places that are worth to see or discover with each passing moment, and among them is Nambla. The tourism department has failed to promote new destinations. “The whole Kashmir valley is having same natural beauties and own status of evergreen forests, springs, rivers, and much more and Nambla village that was earlier known as Nambal (reservoir of water), then the same place was famous as Nanbal (place known for bread and butter) and at present this place is known as Nambla,” said Habibullah Kakroo a local. “During Aryans period this area was invaded and conquered ancient India from the oppressors, whose literature, religion and various modes of social organization has subsequently shaped the course of Indian culture, they has built some temples here, that are still worth to see with full glamour,” said a local. He said that, Nambla is famous by Rustum post, it is said that, Rustum was a well known wrestler from this area, who used to give tough fight to the opponents during his time. Locals said that it is very unfortunate that tourism department has failed to promote this place, despite the fact there remains a huge rush of tourists though out the year. “We are of firm belief that, if the department concerned will boost this area, the day is not far when tourist flow will be high in Nambla, everything is naturally decorated, be it greenery, forests, waterfall or anything else,” said residents of Uri town. Sajad Ahmad from Uri town said that Nambla is the biggest village of Uri town as it has been divided into three Panchyat Halqas, it is 5-6 km from Uri town and 110 km from summer capital Srinagar. Its population is about 15,000 and the main language are Pahari, Gojri and Kashmiri, it is a scenic little town with great views of the Jhelum and snow covered Peaks of the Pir Panjals and the drive to this place from Srinagar or Baramulla is rather scenic though with a lot of military presence. People from different parts of Baramulla district visit here to enjoy the beauty of nature, let the authorities, police, army and district administration promote this village as tourist destination so that, local, national and international tourists can visit here fearlessly. |
