SRINAGAR, June 16: The number of COVID-19 positive cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 3, 09,361 as 635 fresh infections were reported in the past 24 hours. With 12 fresh deaths the death toll due to the virus reached 4,217. Srinagar district reported 129 new cases followed by Budgam district 76, Baramulla district 64, Jammu district 54, Anantnag district 49, Doda district 32, Pulwama district 27, Kupwara district 26, Ramban district 24, Bandipora and Kulgam districts 23 cases each, Udhampur district 22, Rajouri district 19, Ganderbal district 17, Kathua district 16, Poonch district 14, Kishtwar district nine, Shopian district eight and Samba district three cases. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulleting informed that 635 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 193 from Jammu division and 442 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 3, 09,361. Also, 12 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, six each from Jammu and Kashmir divisions. Moreover, 1,649 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 541 from Jammu division and 1,108 from Kashmir division. Besides this, 77.12 percent of population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across the Jammu and Kashmir. Out of 3, 09,361 positive cases, 11,381 are active positive, 2, 93,763 have recovered and 4,217 have died; 2,053 in Jammu division and 2,164 in Kashmir division. Out of 93, 04,004 test results available, 89, 94,643 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 22, 67,717 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 51,193 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 11,381 in isolation and 1, 70,284 in home surveillance. Besides, 20, 30,642 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 68,650 positive cases, 1,784 active positive, 66,051 recovered, 815 deaths; Baramulla has 22,845 positive cases, 913 active positive, 21,658 recovered, 274 deaths; Budgam has 22,028 positive cases, 852 active positive, 20,976 recovered, 200 deaths; Anantnag has 15,640 positive cases, 611 active positive, 14,834 recovered, 195 deaths; Pulwama has 14,536 positive cases, 1,095 active positive, 13,257 recovered, 184 deaths. “Kupwara has 13,415 positive cases, 702 active positive, 12,557 recovered, 156 deaths; Kulgam has 10,773 positive cases, 436 active positive, 10,228 recovered, 109 deaths; Ganderbal has 9,336 positive cases, 327 active positive, 8,934 recovered, 75 deaths; Bandipora has 9,058 positive cases, 337 active positive, 8,623 recovered, 98 deaths and Shopian has 5,516 positive cases, 134 active positive, 5,324 recovered, 58 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 52,101 positive cases, 1,309 active positive, 49,674 recovered, 1,118 deaths; Udhampur has 11,036 positive cases, 204 active positive, 10,701 recovered, 131 deaths; Rajouri has 10,475 positive cases, 352 active positive, 9,915 recovered, 208 deaths; Kathua has 9,101 positive cases, 101 active positive, 8,851 recovered, 149 deaths; Samba has 7,011 positive cases, 192 active positive, 6,701 recovered, 118 deaths. “Doda has 6,467 positive cases, 810 active positive, 5,556 recovered, 101 deaths; Poonch has 5,906 positive cases, 611 active positive, 5,209 recovered, 86 deaths; Ramban has 5,652 positive cases, 338 active positive, 5,254 recovered, 60 deaths; Reasi has 5,535 positive cases, 136 active positive, 5,357 recovered, 42 deaths and Kishtwar has 4,280 positive cases, 137 active positive, 4,103 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 3, 09,361 positive cases in J&K, 21,896 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
