Early Times Report

Jammu, June 16: Today NGO "Jiyo aur Jeene do" convened a press conference in their head office after the meeting in which many issues related to the city were highlighted. Giving information on this occasion, Programme coordinator organization, Neena Kaul said,"We condemn the boycott of Media during the Hon'ble PMO's meeting on Devak project.Keeping the media away from the meeting in the name of protocol is not justified. This is a violation of the media's rights which is the mirror of the society, it raises the voice of people.
While speaking to Media the President Tariq Shah said that, " We condemn the incident of suppressing the voice of the media in the last days. We should not forget that the information about the work, activities of every political, social, non-governmental organization working in the society is conveyed by media which is the fourth pillar of the democracy and works as an eye-opener on every issue related to society.
Keeping the media away from the Devak project means keeping the society away from it. It is beyond our comprehension what the administration wants to convey by keeping the media and all the stakeholders away. Devika project is a boon for the residents of Udhampur and a great result can come out if the opinion of the local people, media, NGOs and social organizations are also included in it.
The local people know more about the geographical location of Udhampur and have understanding of the sewerage of the city and can give a better opinion. The sewerage project of the city is already underway which is a failure. To attain best development all the stakeholders and responsible people as well as local people should be involved.
Many years ago the issue of pollution of Devika was highlighted by our NGO by putting fish and other water creatures in it and concern was raised that there is no life of animals left in Devika due to pollution. If our organization distributes clothes in remote rural areas, then many people of the city cooperate in the cloth bank.
Whether it is about plantation or any of our activities, media has always played an important role in conveying its message to all the people. For development in the society and to bring a good change, it is necessary for everyone to think and work unitedly." Along with the President Tariq Shah, Rajesh Khajuria, Neena Kaul, Ruby Sheikh many others were present.
