6/16/2021 11:55:22 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, June 16: The Dogra Sahayata Kendra (DSK) has demanded strengthening of Covid Care Centers at Panchayat level in the remote areas of Jammu and Kathua Districts by providing all the facilities as the declared by the UT administration. This issue was raised in a joint online ZOOM meeting with members of the Kathua and Khour Units of Dogra Sahayata Kendra held by the Central Coordination Committee of the Kendra under the Chairmanship of Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Minister and Chairman, Dogra Sahayata Kendra. As per a statement issued today by the Dogra Sahayata Kendra it was further disclosed that though the situation in Kathua appeared to be under control, as stated by Kathua Unit members, it was important that the arrangements as mandated by the UT administration are properly made in each and every panchayat in the District, so that any eventuality is dealt with in an effective manner.
Convener of the Coordination Committee, Ajay Khajuria (KAS Retd) also emphasized upon the need for a special focus on the health infrastructure including the Primary Health Centers and connectivity in the border belt in Khour for minimizing the suffering of the population of the remote border areas and that trained medical staff needs to be posted for handling Oxygen Concentrators in each Center to deal with emergencies.
Charak pointed out that, as per reports from the rural areas, due to extremely poor internet connectivity people are unable to get themselves registered on line for the 18+ vaccination programme, especially in the far flung villages, and said that the matter be taken up the Administration to make arrangements to hold Camps at Panchayat levels for vaccinating the people on the basis of spot verification of their Aadhaar cards for speeding up the vaccination process.
He further disclosed that Dogra Sahayata Kendra will also continue to distribute Kits containing masks, hand sanitizing items and information pamphlets, and facilitate creation of awareness about SOPs to be followed for prevention of spread of COVID-19 in Kathua and Khour as well.
Charak also underlined the role of the members of the Unit in continuing to maintain an active liaison between the health authorities, Panchayati Raj Institutions and members of the public to help in ensuring that the covid care centers being provided by the Administration at the Panchayat Level are adequately equipped and staffed and the affected persons are taken care of properly. Amongst others who participated in the Zoom meeting included Col (Retd) Karan Singh Jamwal, Dr Purshottma Sadhotra, Brig (Retd) MS Jamwal, Samar Dev Singh, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, SK Rekhi and Ghambir Dev Singh.
