6/17/2021 10:44:05 PM
Early Times Report

Udhampur, June 17: Former MLA Udhampur Balwant Singh Mankotia has expressed strong resentment over the looting going on the name of Devika project, due to which shopkeepers tied black bands at Ramnagar Chowk of Udhampur as mark of protest against the concern construction company here today.
On this occasion, Mankotia said that the shopkeepers are already troubled due to the corona pandemic, while now they are forced to suffer due to the sub standard construction work of Concerned construction company in Devika project, he said that there is high possibility of spreading disease in the city due to dust, due to which the business of Udhampur city has come to a standstill. He said that the company working on it has been constantly accused of doing sub standard work, but the government is not ready to take any cognisance even after series of protest regarding the same. Mankotia said that even a pipe is being uprooted three or four times and the lanes that have been uprooted for the last two to three years have not been constructed yet and the entire market has also been in a pathetic condition for the last nearly several months. He told that it has become difficult even for people to walk in the markets and streets. Mankotia said that through this project, a conspiracy is being made to settle Rohingya-Bangladeshis in Udhampur by employing them and completely ignored the local youth in giving employment in it, for which he protested on yesterday as well. Mankotia said that there is a scam of crores on the name of Devika project and there is a possibility of involvement of many big officials and leaders in this.
