AYUSH organizes webinar on yoga for holistic development of children | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jun 17: Directorate of Indian Systems of Medicine (AYUSH) J&K has been organizing Yoga Saptaha to mark the celebration of 7th International Day of Yoga. As per the guidelines of Ministry of AYUSH and current year theme “ Be with Yoga, Be at Home” due to the prevailing pandemic situation, most of the activities are being organized from various virtual platforms in collaboration with other departments under the guidance of Director Indian Systems of Medicine, AYUSH J&K, Dr. Mohan Singh. The purpose of conducting the webinar series is to promote Yoga in collaboration with various departments in different spheres of life. In this series, a webinar on “Holistic Development of Children through Yoga” was organized by the Directorate of ISM wherein Dr. Sujata Sathu, Ayurvedic pediatrician Ex-ADMO of the department delivered a lecture on how yogic principles and yogic practices can be inculcated among children of various age group. She also emphasized that Yogic Principles need to be integrated in parenting and schooling to make children more receptive towards Yoga. The resource person also briefed that in the prevailing situation of Covid-19, children are psychologically and emotionally stressed and their energies can be well channelized through Yogic practices. The webinar was attended by AYUSH fraternity with full fervor and zeal. Many veteran Medical Officers of the department also joined in the webinar and expressed their joy and satisfaction that department is positively engaging different sections of the society in International Day of Yoga. Resource person and participants appreciated the initiative of Directorate of Indian Systems of Medicine for organizing virtual seminars on Yoga and its applications in different aspects of life like health, education and career.
