GDC Chenani initiates campaign on Save Devika Project | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, June 17: Government Degree College (GDC) Chenani under the auspices of its NSS unit ‘Prayatna’ and Research Project Awarded by the JKSTIC, Department of Science & Technology, Govt of J&K initiated the ‘Devika Ecostatus Monitoring Programme’. The programme has been taken up to foster volunteerism as part of this proactive approach to protecting the holy river Devika and the surrounding water ecosystems in the tehsil of Udhampur. GDC Chenani as part of the research project is aiming to create a Mass Awareness Program (MAP) as an all-inclusive approach for this monumental vital effort. Under the program, the NSS volunteers of the College started a year-long MEGA-CAMPAIGN to raise awareness for its conservation and restoration on all the social media platforms of the College by writing articles, drawing posters, writing slogans, creating infographics, tweeting and posting images of it on the Instagram. Dr Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College and the Principal Investigator of the Research Project quoted that the main aim of the programme is to accomplish the twin objectives of effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of Devika besides creating a spirit of national service, love for the environment, camaraderie and leadership amongst the NSS volunteers of the College. She further added that the programme is being conducted online at the moment due to lockdown rules that prohibit mass gatherings. |
