Jammu, June 17: Field Outreach Bureau, Kathua under the supervision of Regional Outreach Bureau, J&K, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India organized a webinar today on ‘Coping with Isolation during Lockdown’ with a special focus on the threats and preparedness to cope isolation, activities to address isolation and ways of helping others who might be experiencing loneliness due to Covid19. In his address, Romesh Kumar Sharma, Head Counseling Cell, DTE, of School Education, Jammu (DSEJ) said that due to lockdown and isolation, people face problems like damaged mental health and well being, lack of concentration, insomnia, obesity, anxiety, helplessness, fear of missing classes, fear of incompetency, fear of lagging behind in covering syllabus etc., are the various threats students and general public face. The DSEJ has launched a fulfledged counselling Cell in all the schools to help students and parents in handling various psychological issues faced by them. Cultural cell of the DSEJ is also organizing activities like plantation drives, painting, writing, cultural programmes to engage students offline. He also suggested various portals like Manodarpan (by the Ministry of Education), ‘Tammanna’, ‘Manzilein’ and ‘Aao Baat Karein’ portals for psychological sensitization and enquiry number 6006800068 has been set up for students. Dr Rajni Sharma, Assistant Professor, Govt. Degree College, Samba spoke on the topic ‘Activities to address Isolation’. During her address, she suggested that keeping oneself busy in household chores, listening to music, reading, other entertainment, gardening, painting , physical exercise, helping others etc. can be of great help to cope up with isolation. Shria Abrol, RCI Licensed Counsellor, Parenting & Child Counsellor spoke about ‘Helping others who might be experiencing Loneliness’. She suggested that people need to come forward to help each other not only by providing basic needs of food, shelter and clothing but also for providing moral support, emotional connectedness, availability, motivation, helping old age and illiterate people in getting connected to relatives through cell phones and social media etc. In his welcome address Khursheed Yousuf, FPO, Udhampur said that the biggest aim of conducting this kind of a webinar is to make masses aware about the various ways of getting help from available sources and experts to handle sensitive issues related to isolation during Covid19. Besides students and officials of various departments, Shri Shahid Mohammad Lone, FPO Anantnag, Mudasir Amin, Media & Communications Officer, PIB, Jammu were also present.
