Early Times Report

Jammu, June 27: Reiterating its demand for restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, activist of Statehood Movement for J&K by Dogra Youth on Sunday held a strong protest demonstration and demanded restoration of statehood status.
The protest was held under the leadership of Partap Singh Jamwal and Bhanu Partap Goria, Maharaja Gulab Singh Brigade Chairmen, Anil Rakwal also joined and supported the said movement.
Protesting activists raised slogans like "Jammu Kashmir Ko Rajye Ka Darza Do Darza Do", Dogra State Bahaal Karo Bahaal Karo", "BJP Hai Hai", "We want Statehood for J&K".
Addressing the gathering, Partap Singh Jamwal said that the day, Modi government bifurcated Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories i.e JK and Ladakh marked a “Black Day” in the history of J&K.
He further said that the decision of the Modi government was full of shock and unjustified for the nationalist people of J&K who are feeling betrayed and downgraded. The lowering of the status of a 200-year-old Dogra state into a UT is irking the minds of the people, who felt disgraced and dishonored.
Partap reiterated his solemn resolve to fight for restoration of full statehood of J&K & Ladakh, which has been a symbol of Dogra valour, composite culture and identity. He said that sacrifices made by Dogra Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Christians have always safeguarded secular credentials of people at large.
On his address, Bhanu Partap Goria said that downgrading of Jammu and Kashmir is not acceptable. He said the Union Government has not taken into consideration the sentiments of Dogras and leaders of Jammu while preparing the architecture of Jammu and Kashmir.
Bhanu said that J&k state was not slave to Britishers during Maharaja"s time then why now we are demoted to UT, We will keep demanding our identification back. He said that youth of J&K had endorsed the abrogation of Article 370 & 35A but we are strongly opposed to the dismantling of 200 year old historical State of J&K and downgrading it to the level of UT.
