Early Times Report

KATHUA, July 2: Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rahul Yadav today said that the district administration has intensified inoculation campaigns with special focus on low percentage areas to achieve target of 100 percent covid vaccination of age appropriate groups.
Massive IEC campaigns are being held to educate people and achieve desired vaccination pace, he said while addressing media persons on the latest Covid situation in the district.
While presenting the vaccination profile of the district, the DC said the speed of vaccination has been increased by adding more sites and teams to cover all persons of 45 year and above age group. He said so far 82% persons in the age bracket of 45 years and above have been given at least one jab of Covid vaccination.
In the 18-44 yr age category, over 60,000 have taken the first jab of Covid vaccination which constitute around 30% of the total people in this age group, the DC added.
The DC said the Covid positivity rate is at its lowest in recent times with the number of daily positive cases dropping below 10 in the last few days. He said no covid death has been reported in the last week in the district.
“Our health teams are also counselling people who have some doubts about Covid-19 vaccine, with the involvement of public representatives, PRIs and local religious leaders,” he added.
Rahul Yadav appealed to the people to go to the nearest centers along with the eligible family members to take the vaccine without further delay. He said the health teams are working on mission mode, trekking hilly terrains besides braving hot weather to ensure that no one misses the vaccination.
He also appealed to people to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour and vaccinate themselves as this is the safer way to help build protection.
