Another deadline set by LG Sinha missed | COVID-19 jabs for above 45 age group | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 2: Health Department has failed to meet the two deadlines set up by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for completion of vaccination of the 45-plus age group in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the available details, more than 15 percent above 45-years of age in J&K are yet to be vaccinated. It’s in place to mention here that the Lieutenant Governor had set the first deadline in this regard on May 16. He had instructed that the vaccination be completed by May 26. This deadline was missed by a long shot. “At the end of the first deadline, 33 percent of people in the 45 and above age group were yet to be vaccinated,” said a source. He said after missing the deadline in the next 10-days only 4.6 percent of people were given the vaccine. On June 12, LG Sinha had set June 30 as the new deadline. According to the official data more than 15 percent of the population above 45-years of age are yet to be vaccinated. Between June 13 and now jabs have been administered to less than 9 percent of the population in the 45 plus age group. Pertinently, no other district has been added to the tally of 100 percent vaccination in the 45 plus age group, after hype was created about completion of the target in 4 districts last month: Shopian, Ganderbal, Jammu, and Samba. |
