Jammu, July 2: Bashir Ahmed of tehsil Mahore in Reasi district has been visiting the Government Medical College Jammu for the past many months to get his minor son operated, but he is sent back every time on the pretext that operation theatre is closed.
Ahmed his wife, Guddi and his minor son while narrating their ordeal said, “My son was operated for Harnia a few months ago. He had to be operated again. For the past many months we are told to visit the GMC Hospital after every 15-days. We have to spend Rs 3000 on every visit.”
“ I am a laborer and struggle to make my ends meet. Due to lockdown we don’t get much work also. It becomes difficult for me to visit Jammu after every 15-days. Till date we haven’t been provided with any free medicine by the hospital. I have to spend Rs 250/ per day on my son’s medicine,” he said.
The poor laborer said that every time he is told that surgery will be performed after 15-days and he should not push things. “Had we got the proper health facility in our area, we would not have struggled so much,” Ahmed added.
