DC Ramban reviews progress under ICDS, implementation of Poshan Abhiyan
'Construction of 33 AWCs proposed under convergence plan'

RAMBAN, July 2: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, reviewed progress under Integrated Child Development Service, Project and implementation of Poshan Abhiyan in a meeting of concerned officers, here today.
The meeting was attended by DPO, ICDS, Atar Chand; ACR, Dherinder Sharma; SDM Banihal Zaheer Abbas; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mohammad Fareed Bhat; DPO Sunil Buthyal; Executive Engineer Jal Shakti and other concerned officers.
The DC emphasized upon all stakeholders to focus on infrastructural development under ICDS to provide better facilities to children and women folk. On the issue of construction of Anganwari Centres, the ACD assured that RDD will construct 33 Anganwari Centres under convergence plan as per the guidelines and extant rules in the district. Earlier, PO ICDS informed that a total of 802 Anganwari centres are functional across the district out of which 22 are in government accommodation.
The DC directed Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti to provide water supply facility in 22 Anganwari Centres functional in government accommodations and PO, ICDS was asked to ensure availability of water supply in all other centres which are functioning in private buildings. The DC also directed the PO, ICDS and DPO to resolve issues of land identification for the construction of Awanganwari Centres by motivating locals while conducting Gram Sabhas in the district. Earlier, PO, ICDS briefed the meeting about the targets achieved so far in implementation of the Convergence Plan under POSHAN ABHIYAN. The DC asked the heads of concerned departments to work in tandem to achieve tangible results under the POSHAN ABHIYAN for ensuring holistic nourishment of children, pregnant women, lactating mothers and adolescent girls.
The DC asked the CDPOs to conduct awareness camps in each Panchayat and depute ASHA and AWWs workers to educate pregnant women, lactating mothers about the importance of right and timely nutrition besides raising awareness on sanitation and safe drinking water.
The DC also asked the CDPOs to ensure home visits of ASHA and Awanganwari workers to pregnant women, lactating mothers especially to educate them about benefits of taking proper diets, hygiene and sanitation, breastfeeding and immunization.
