KVK Reasi organizes Online Training on Commercial Organic Farming

JAMMU, July 2: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi organized a training programme on commercial organic farming/natural farming/cow based economy/sustainable agriculture through virtual mode and the same was attended by a number of farmers of the district. The programme was organized under the guidance of Director Extension (DE) of SKUAST-J, Prof. S K Gupta. Scientist & Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal started the programme with the warm welcome of the participants. He gave a detailed view on principles and practices of organic agriculture. He said that such programmes can help the farmers to commercialize the organic farming in the region and assist the farmers to increase their organic crops production by providing the scientific guidelines on commercial organic farming. He narrated that there is dire need to adopt the eco-friendly agricultural practices to protect the soil and environment. He explained some important soil formulations for the enrichment of soil. He explained the method of preparation of organic inputs like cow urine, Panchgavaya, fermented butter milk, jeevamrit etc. used in organic farming. He stressed on the use of Farm Yard Manures (FYM), vermin-compost, bio-fertlizers, bio-fungicides, bio-pesticides, cow urine, neem oil etc. in the soil for the commercial organic farming.
Dr. Suja Nabi Qureshi, scientist educated the farmers on the organic fruits and vegetables cultivation and suggested them the use of quality organic seeds/planting material for better performance. He said that by growing the organic fruits and vegetables farmers can generate more income and employment.
