Awareness programme on “Nasha Mukti-Yuva Shakti-Desh Bhakti “ held

Jammu, July 2: The Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu, organized an awareness programme on the theme “Nasha Mukti-Yuva Shakti-Desh Bhakti” on the occasion of ‘International Day against Drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ which is observed on 26th June every year.
The programme started with the formal welcome address by Dr. J.N. Baliya, Head of the Department.
In his address Dr. Baliya said that Drug Addiction is not only the consumption of tobacco or alcohol but also the involvement in various incorrect practices such as theft, corruption, etc.
He advised the youth that they should not be egoistic and always be engaged in some meaningful activities which are helpful for the all-round development their personality. He further emphasized that the role of teachers is very significant to guard the youth form drug addiction which is the real patriotism now a days.
The chief-guest of the event was Prof. Rasal Singh, Dean Students Welfare, Central University of Jammu.
In his presidential remarks Prof. Singh said that now a day youths follow the short-cut way to achieve their target for which they are ill-advised to adopt unprincipled practices.
He clearly said that the drugs never supportive to determine the issues rather it increases many problems in life. Drug destroys the career as well as whole life. Prof. Rasal advised the students to maintain a healthy life style by practicing regular exercises, being close to the nature and also family. In this event various activities such as short play, presentations, quiz, poem recitation, etc were presented by the students.
Ankit Mishra, a student of B.Ed. class presented a detailed report on the status of drug addiction mainly in the India.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Asit Mantry and formal vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Kiran. Faculty members, scholars and students from the department were present on this occasion.
