Security stepped up in Kashmir | | | EARly Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 19: Amid a series of targeted killings, forces have stepped up security in Srinagar and other parts of the valley, officials said. Security forces on Tuesday set up checkpoints and intensified patrolling in various parts of the city to boost confidence among the people, especially the migrant labourers and minorities. Eyewitnesses said forces also stepped up frisking of vehicles across Srinagar. A large number of two wheelers were confiscated by police during random checking in various parts of Srinagar including the city centre. This month five migrant workers and three minority community members were among 11 people killed in a series of targeted attacks. The attacks have triggered fear among the migrant workers and minorities.
