POONCH, Oct 19: Advocate Ronik Sharma, Convener Roots in POJK has appealed the central government as well as union territory administration to observe October 22 as 'Shradhanjali Divas' for martyrs of 1947 displaced persons from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions of erstwhile princely Indian state of J&K due to open “Pakistan Attack”. In a press statement issued here today, Sharma said that on this day in 1947 Pakistani forces violated the borders of the state. People were brutally attacked by invaders in areas in and around Mirpur and Muzaffarabad districts. People suffered loss in terms of life, property, molestation , harassment, physical & and mental torture and displacement where in thousands had to run for life, unprotected even alone , many having no knowledge of whereabouts of other family members since these areas had large Hindu / Sikh population.The forces of the state could give no protection . Sharma said that due to Pakistan army’s direct attack on Indian Dominion, lakhs of individuals got displaced and others who had narrow escaped got scattered and were out from their homes and hearths with no money or means carried along even for minimum survival. He called upon the government of JK, UT of Ladakh and Government of India to immediately set up a separate authority for 1947 POJK displaced families. |
