JAMMU, Dec 21: Shaheed Ghanisham Govt Degree College (GDC) Doongi organized a slogan writing competition to celebrate National Energy Conservation Week. The programme was coordinated by Samina Khan, Head Department of English and Palak Preet Kaur, Department of EVS. The slogans emphasized on the importance, conservation and efficient use of energy. A huge number of students participated in the competition. Varsha Sharma from B.A Sem Ist secured first position, second position was bagged by Sakshi Sharma of Sem 1st and third position was bagged by Zarina Koser and Palak Tara respectively.
The whole programme was organized under the supervision of the principal of college Dr.Shamim Ahmed Azad, who spoke on the occasion laid emphasis to install CFL lights, replacing incandescent bulbs in your home with CFL bulbs, use energy efficient appliances, switch off appliances when not in use and stressed on the judicious use of energy. Moreover he encouraged the students to participate in these kinds of activities. Dr. Ashyana Koser, Dept of Urdu, Sapna Dept. of Hindi, Iqbal Rasool were the judges of the competition.
