| Militants fire at naka party on city outskirts | | |

Srinagar, Dec 21: Suspected militants fired upon a joint naka party of police and Central Reserve Police Force at Soura area on Srinagar outskirts this evening, official sources said here.
They said a joint team of police and CRPF had set up a checkpoint, when militants opened fire on them.
“The fire was retaliated. The attackers managed to escape, taking advantage of the darkness,” they said, adding that no security personnel was injured in the firing.
A massive hunt has been launched in the area to trace the militants. Police have not issued any statement on the incident so far.
The shooting at Soura took place days after a top Pakistani militant commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba was killed in an early morning gunfight at Harwan on Srinagar outskirts. |
