JAMMU, Dec 29: Jammu and Kashmir unit of Shiv Sena today gathered at the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh installed on the main bridge of the Tawi River in support of the demand of the Yuva Rajput Sabha to declare September 23 as a state holiday with the same being celebrated as birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh. The Sena warned that if the demand is not met soon a mass movement would be launched from January 10 by holding an indefinite dharna near the statue of the Maharaja. Jammu President Ankur Sharma said that it was the hope and aspiration of the people of Jammu province that the Union Territory Administration of Jammu and Kashmir declared October 26 as a holiday in the state. The year 2020 will honor the spirit of Jammu and declare 23 September as a state holiday, the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh, but the authorities have not done so. President of Yuva Rajput Sabha, Rajan Singh Happy, who has been campaigning for a state holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja for a long time, said that darkness has fallen on the vested interests in the government and the education department. Maharaja Hari Singh and the History of India and the State of Jammu and Kashmir took advantage of their state subject laws to hurt the people, especially the Hindus and the Sikhs.
