Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 29: Sunrise Public School (SPS) conducted a day-long programme, "Women Health and Hygiene" camp here today at JK Medicity Hospital near Channi Himmat. It has been found that there is a lack of awareness about adolescence among school going girls and dearth of sentience among ladies especially the old women about sanitation, use of sanitary napkins and disposal of menstrual waste. Through this camp, Sunrise Educational Trust (SET) India team made an effort to create awareness among female villagers of JK Medicity and sensitize them about adolescence, sanitation, use of sanitary napkins and disposal of menstrual waste and other related matters. The camp was conducted at local community area of JK Medicity Hospital. Hygiene kits provided by Sunrise Educational Trust include cleansing wipes, sanitary pads, reusable face masks, essential hygiene items, liquid soap, sanitizers, and detergent among others. More than 40 women of JK Medicity received the aid. The problem was similar in neighbouring Channi Himmat. The camp concluded with the address by Manpreet Kour Director, Sunrise Public School. "Most people and men in particular, find menstrual hygiene a difficult subject to talk about. As a result of these issues, a WASH intervention often fails to address the needs of women and girls". "If the situation does not change, it may not be possible for development programmes to achieve their goals," she stated. Rajesh Sharma took the round of the camp. He appreciated this creativity idea of set India team to conduct awareness in women. |
