Black sheep misleading LG about ‘all is well’ in J&K: Tanveer Hussain
Govt should implement minimum wages act for daily wagers, mitigate sufferings of common people
1/8/2022 11:29:22 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 8: President of J&K Daily Wagers Association, Tanveer Hussain, on Saturday said that a few “black sheep” in administration are misleading the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha by providing him wrong information about all being well in the Union Territory.
Talking to Early Times, Hussain, who is also a leader of Republican Party of India, said, “Common people, including daily wagers are struggling to survive. For the past few days upper reaches of J&K have been receiving continuous snowfall, daily wagers working with different departments are at forefront to restore the essential services. They are putting their lives at stake to ensure that people don’t suffer.” Hussain said, “There are 60,000 daily wagers in J&K but till date none of the regimes have fulfilled their promise of implementing minimum wages act for them. It’s high time for the present government to implement this act so that poor daily wagers could manage two square meals in a day.”
He said that if the government fails to address the genuine grievances of the daily wagers it would have to pay a heavy price for it in the forthcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. “Families of 60,000 daily wagers comprise nearly 5 lakh votes and they can make a big difference.”
Hussain said that he has been receiving phone calls from Warwan Valley in Kishtwar district about people having no electricity and water for the past 5-days. “I urge the LG administration to help these poor people and come out of the illusion that all is well in J&K.”
He said safai karamacharis in Chenab Valley have been on strike for the past many days but no one is even ready to listen to their demands. “The administration should reach out to them and address their grievances,” he added.
