Publicity hungry J&K Govt nowhere , residents in distress seek Army help | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 9: While the publicity-hungry J&K administration is miserably failed to cope up with extreme weather, it’s the Army and other central forces which are providing some relief to the people at this crucial time. Instead of approaching the J&K administration for help during inclement weather, people are also calling the Army to save them during heavy snowfall and incessant rains in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir. During the four days, many incidents have been reported when people in distress have approached the local formations of the Army to help them. On Sunday, the Border Security Force (BSF) airlifted four patients, including a BSF jawan, from the snow-bound Tangdhar sector in Kashmir Valley. Reports said that on the request of district administration Kupwara, BSF evacuated three patients for medical attention from the Tangdhar sector as the only road connecting the area with district headquarters remains closed. Notably, the Tangdhar sector is among the three major areas close to the border areas that remain out of bounds for at least six months due to the heavy snowfall. Interestingly, the J&K government is visible only in the cities and towns just to get publicity but the situation is worse in the remotest areas where snow has been accumulated during the last four days. In the remotest far-flung areas, the Army and other central forces are providing help to the residents while the administration’s activities are confined only in the cities and approachable towns. |
