Early Times Report

UDHAMPUR, Jan 8: Continuous rains for the last five days has thrown normal life out of gear in this district with reports of house getting collapsed coming from some areas apart from flash floods and inundation at other areas. Some areas have been plunged into darkness for two-three days altogether.
This has amplified public miseries as certain hilly areas of Udhampur district have experienced snowfall which has triggered cold wave in the region. However, no loss of life has been reported from any area.
Reports said that some houses have collapsed in Pancheri, Moungri and some other hilly areas while the district administration is claiming all efforts to bring the life back to normalcy and helpline numbers have also been put in public domain. DDC Panchari, Jasvir Singh said that some houses in his area have been damaged.
“As soon as the weather improves all possible help to the victims will be provided and their losses will be compensated,” he claimed. SSP Udhampur, Dr Vinod Kumar has asked victims of house collapse to report the matter to the police for help.
Meanwhile, due to continuous rains many streets in Udhampur town witnessed water logging with lanes and drains getting flooded with dirty water gushing out of them due to blockages. Many organizations and public at large have flayed the municipality for poor arrangements to face such harsh weather vagaries.
