1/12/2022 10:38:46 PM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Jan 12: District Congress Committee Jammu rural staged a protest demonstration against the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) for demolishing the houses of people belonging to Scheduled Tribe (ST) community.
Led by former minister and Vice President Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Mula Ram and President DCC Rural, Hari Singh Chib, the Congress activists along with Udhay Bhanu Chib, President Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress (JKPYC) also joined the senior Congress leaders in the protest.
The protesters raised vociferous slogans against the JDA for demolishing residential houses at Roop Nagar Sector 6, Ward 60 in Raipur Domana Constituency. They alleged that JDA and other government agencies are specifically targeting a particular section of society i.e. the ST community people in the garb of demolishing encroachments.
Mula expressed strong resentment against the LG administration for demolishing the houses belonging to Gujjar community people. He said this discriminatory and arbitrary action against these people yet again exposes the lies of the BJP led dispensation at the centre as well as in this union territory as on one hand BJP says that it is representing STs and safeguarding their rights and interests but on ground the position is quite contrary with the administration using cheap tactics to humiliating and harass the Scheduled Tribe people.
Chib accused the administration of causing loss of properties worth crores belonging to the Gujjar community people whereas thousands of Kanals of JDA land adjoining Jammu stand encroached but the administration has turned a blind eye towards these violations. He said that the height of the things is that these demolitions are being carried out without complying the provisions of law i.e. without serving any prior notice.
Chib questioned the JDA and the UT administration for its partiality in dealing with the encroachments within its jurisdiction. He said that the building comprising a palatial house of former Dy CM stands testimony to the blatant violation of law by the BJP leaders. He said this has totally exposed the BJP led government that has completely failed on all fronts and the people of Jammu especially the Gujjar Community will teach BJP a lesson in the assembly elections.
