Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jan 12: Cab drivers held a demonstration here on Wednesday against the traffic police, demanding to know why they were not being to allowed to ply on Srinagar roads. The drivers who assembled near the BJP office at Jawahar Nagar alleged that the traffic department has seized their vehicles for no fault of theirs. Shouting "We want justice" and "High Handedness not acceptable", a driver who identified himself as Tariq Ahmad threatened to commit suicide with his children in Lal Chowk on Thursday if justice is not done. The drivers alleged that the traffic officials were seizing cabs at Dalgate, Bypass Road and Lal Chowk. The cab drivers urged the Superintendent of Traffic Police to resolve the problem. "If we are paying annual tax, insurance and ownership tax, why are the authorities not allowing us to run vehicles?" one of them asked. |
