GDC Banihal organizes webinar on National Youth Day

BANIHAL, Jan 12: National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Banihal in collaboration with Debates and Seminar Committee of the college organized an essay writing competition, an online quiz and a webinar as a part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav on account of 25th National Youth Day in order to celebrate the 159th birth anniversary, ideals and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda. The programme was held under the overall supervision of the Principal, Dr. Manohar Lal and mentorship of Prof. Ajay Kumar, NSS Programme Officer. The Principal stressed upon the youth to imbibe the ideals and values of Swami Vivekananda in order to progress in life.The main speaker of the webinar, Deepak Kumar (HoD Physical Education), delivered an eloquent and a detailed lecture about the life history, character, philosophy, ideals and various works and services of Swami Vivekananda. The guest speaker highlighted the kind of thinking and role Swami Vivekananda had regarding the youth of the country in the process of nation building. The NSS volunteers of the college delivered speeches on the occasion. In the essay writing competition, six students participated out of whom Izna Rather of BA Semester-3 stood first. In the online quiz, conducted to know the awareness of the students about the Day, at least sixty students participated who were from various colleges like GDC Marh and GDC Thathri apart from the students of GDC Banihal. Prof. Ram Parkash (HoD Mathematics) provided technical support to the programme and Prof. Sajad Ahmed Sultan (Convenor, Debates and Seminar Committee) concluded it with a vote of thanks.
