KVK, Reasi Trains Farmers on Organic Vegetables Cultivation

JAMMU, Jan 15: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) imparted training on "Organic vegetables cultivation" here at Kansi Patta village in Reasi district of J&K.
The programme was enthuastically attended by a number of farmers of the area. The programme was organised under the able guidance of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof.JP Sharma and Director Extension, Prof.SK Gupta of SKUAST-J. Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi guided the trainees on organic vegetables production and explained the use of organic inputs required in the organic vegetables production. He encouraged the participants for the commercial organic vegetables by which they can generate more income and employment. He gave a detailed view about the preparation of organic formulations by using the locally available inputs. He also suggested the organic management of insect-pests, diseases and weeds in the organic vegetables production. Dr.Suja Nabi Qureshi, Scientist said that organic vegetables production can play a crucial role in increasing the income of the farmers. He educated the farmers on protected cultivation technique and suggested its operations to produce the quality organic vegetables. He also discussed on the grading and marketing management practices. During the training programme some quarries were raised by the trainees which were answered satisfactorily by the KVK scientists. The programme was also attended by an awardee farmer, Sh.Bansi Lal who shared his organic farming experience with the other farmers of the area. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal and concluded by Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi with formal vote of thanks.
