Thereafter, the Journalists under the banner of Press Club Rajouri on Saturday blocked the busy Gujjar Mandi Chowk and protested against Dharam Raj Construction Company responsible for double laning the Rajouri Thannamandi road. President Press Club Rajouri Avinash Jasyal and Chairman Arif Qureshi led the journalists in the protest demanding registration of attempt to murder case against contractor of said company.
The media body demanded strict punishment for those involved in the attack on senior journalist Imran Khan who hails from Thannamandi after he was attacked and injured by goons of Dharam Raj Construction Company for discharging his professional duty. It is important to mention that the fourth pillar of the democracy conveys important and critical information to the public. Be it rough weather or difficult terrain, Cross-Border Shelling or Health Hazards, the journalists face every difficult situation to do their job. But the attack on journalists is not only shameful but gives us the reason to introspect as a society.
