GDC Vijaypur pays tribute to Indian Army | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 15: India celebrates Army Day with tremendous zeal on January 15 every year in recognition of Field Marshal Kodandera M. Cariappa's taking over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Francis Bucher, the last British Commander- in - Chief of India on 15 January 1949. To commemorate the day, the NSS unit (KHIDMAT) of GDC Vijaypur along with the faculty members saluted all Jawans for their bravery and patriotism; paid virtual tribute by remembering our brave soldiers who always lead from the front, be it protecting the sovereignty of our nation or helping citizens during natural disasters and even remembered with great pride all the sacrifices made by them as they put their lives at risk so that 125 crores Indian live peacefully. NSS volunteers paid homage to martyrs by lightening candles in the memory of all the departed souls who contributed and sacrificed their lives for the country. The event was organized under the able guidance of Dr.Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College. She exhorted that this day is a matter of great pride for every Indian, as we pay our respect to the daredevils of our country and salute them for the sacrifices they make each day for the country. She further added that the day is celebrated to honor each soldier in the armed forces of our country for their selfless service. The event was coordinated by Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch NSS (PO). |
