Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jan 29: J&K police have arrested two Rajasthan residents from West Bengal who were allegedly involved in a theft case in Srinagar. Police recovered gold jewellery from the accused. Srinagar police said Police Post Channapora received a complaint from Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh of Housing Colony Chanpora, regarding the burglary of jewellery from his residential house on January 5. Accordingly a case was registered at Sadar Police station under sections 380 and 457 of IPC. "On this a team of Police Post Channapora swung into action and with the help of intelligence, arrested two accused persons from West Bengal who were involved in the crime," a police statement said. The two accused were identified as Mohammad Samad Sheikh, and Mohammad Shoidul Sheikh, both residents of Rajasthan. It said gold jewellery weighing 92.680 grams was recovered from the accused. "The investigation of the case is going on, more arrests and recovery is expected," it added. Meanwhile, Police in Srinagar claimed to have recovered a stolen vehicle within two hours on Saturday. Police received an application by Riyaz Ahmad Khan of Srinagar this morning stating that his Tavera vehicle has been stolen from Lal Chowk Sumo stand. A case was registered In Police Station Kothibagh and investigation was taken up. "Acting swiftly upon receipt of the aforementioned complaint, a team was constituted . After developing an input generated by CCTV footage, the said stolen vehicle was recovered from Dangerpora Kanipora Nowgam," police said, adding investigation is going on in the case. |
